BEAUTIFUL LAKES

 1. Hemkund


The literal meaning of Hemkund is ‘lake of snow’. Besides being a religious site, it also attracts scores of nature lovers. Reaching this place is one of the greatest joys for a nature lover. Number of Waterfalls, dense forest and seven peaks of Himalayan range and crystal clear lake water are enough to pull tourists. Trekking is one of the most favourite activities among tourists. The place is also believed to be associated with Hindu god Lakshman. There is also a temple near Hemkund Sahib dedicated to Lakshman.


2. Deoriatal


Devariyatal is an emerald lake perched at a height of 2438 mts above sea level. During the early morning on a clear day, Devariya Tal blesses the tourists with miraculous reflections of Chaukhamba peaks on its crystal clear water.



3. Dodital


Dodital is a freshwater lake in uttarkashi district. Assi ganga rises from dodital and joins bhagirathi. The confluence is at Gangori. To reach Dodital, From Uttarkashi, a short jeep ride of 19 kilometers will take you to Sangamchatti from where the 24 km trek to Dodital begins. This is a mostly gentle trek, with overnight halt options at the village of Agora or Bebra. At Agora, which is 6 km from Sangamchatti, one can stay at one of the private lodges or alternatively, camp at Bebra which is 8 km from Sangamchatti. From there one can start the second leg of the trek the next day which will take you to Dodital via the small summer settlement of Manjhi.


4. Sarutal


The Saru Tal Trek is a trek to the holy water of the Sar Lake located at an elevation of 4200 meter in the Western Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. It is a 9 to 10 days moderate trek that starts from Sankri being the base camp. The Saru Tal is located in such an area where the temperature at the day time is pleasant whereas the nights are cold. The trek starts from Sankri with Dehradun being the starting point of the journey. You will start to experience the majestic meadows and the inexpressible charm of the Himalayas will blow your mind at the very beginning of this journey.
